Zwitser Cheese

Home Zwitser Cheese

Zwitser Cheese
“Zwitser artisan cheese” in English refers to Zwitser, an artisan cheese produced by Rockhill Creamery in Utah, United States.”Zwitser” is the Dutch word for “Swiss,” and the name was chosen because this cheese is a tangy, aged variant of Farmhouse Gouda with extra cultures added to give it a distinct sharp, zingy flavor with Swiss-like notes (full-flavored and tangy, but without the holes typical of Emmental/Swiss cheese).
It’s a semi-hard, artisan cheese made from unpasteurized (raw) cow’s milk, with a natural rind, compact/crumbly/dense texture, yellow color, rich/strong aroma, and a strong, tangy taste.
It’s often described as sharp and sweet, great for those who love bold, strong cheeses — perfect on its own, with bread, or on a charcuterie board.
Produced in small batches at a farmstead creamery in northern Utah (an area nicknamed the “Little Switzerland of the Rockies” due to its landscape and Brown Swiss cows).

This is not a traditional Swiss cheese from Switzerland — it’s an American artisan creation inspired by Dutch Gouda styles with a “Swiss” twist in flavor profile.
